Chrome supports dark mode natively on every major platform, but the settings are scattered across system preferences, Chrome flags, and extension configs. After testing every method on Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, here is what actually works and when to use each approach. Chrome UI Dark Mode Chrome follows your operating system's appearance setting by default. On Windows, go to Settings > Personalization > Colors and select Dark. On macOS, open System Settings > Appearance and select Dark. Chrome picks up the change immediately. Starting in Chrome 131, you can override the OS setting. Navigate to chrome://settings/appearance and use the Mode dropdown to force Light or Dark regardless of your system theme. Useful when you want Chrome dark but other apps light. On Android, open Chrome's three-dot menu, tap Settings > Theme, and choose Dark. On iOS, Chrome follows the system appearance exclusively through Settings > Display & Brightness.
